BPI Building Analyst & BPI Envelope Professional Training – a combined course for two certifications from one week of training.
Cost: $2395 (price includes course materials, BPI written & field exam fees)
The key to energy-efficient building performance is in understanding the integrated systems in a building that are responsible for the transfer and use of energy, for moisture transport, and air movement. The training also offers hands-on measurement and verification of building performance, as well as standards and project specifications - with the goal of optimizing the building envelope for energy efficiency. Intended for contractors who would like to conduct diagnostic energy audits on existing housing stock, including measurement and verification services related to building analysis, this course is a carefully crafted balance of classroom presentations, field exercises, and self-study materials with an emphasis on practical problem-solving. Course registration includes all testing as well as fees to BPI. Field mentoring is an additional cost and will be scheduled separately
- Understand the relationship between building envelope systems and the other systems of the building
- Learn techniques for improving efficiency and durability of the building envelope in existing buildings
- Become familiar with advanced best practices for energy efficiency improvements including duct blasting, series leakage testing, infrared imaging, insulation installation, ventilation & CAZ testing
By taking this course you will receive comprehensive training in building science and combustion safety geared towards providing you with the skills necessary to attain both the BPI Building Analyst and BPI Envelope Professional Certifications.
This class is intended for those with a strong background in fields related to building construction. Typical students include BPI Building Analysts, HERS Raters, Building Inspectors, HVAC Professionals, and others with some hands on experience in the building field.
The BPI Envelope Professional Certification is the next step beyond the BPI Building Analyst Certification and is a requirement under the Connecticut Home Energy Solutions (HES) effective January 1, 2011
If you currently hold the BPI Building Analyst Certification and take this course, the written exams and the combined field test, in addition to getting a week of advanced training in Building Science, you will upon passing get both your BPI Envelope Professional Certification and have your BPI Building Analyst Certification renewal dates brought into sync. This also allows you to renew your BPI Building Analyst Certification without having to satisfy the requirement for Continuing Education Credits (CEU's)
